Kit Details
The Acorn Mini is a fantastic vehicle, but with most good things - you’ll need to put in some effort to get there. The car ships to you in a kit - meaning it’ll have to be put it together. Most of the assembly tools are included in the box, however there are a few more things you may want to pick up - which we’ll go over later. This page will cover those details along with shedding some more light on what’s involved in the assembly process.
For most people who like working with their hands (remember those model kits you may have assembled in a previous lifetime), the vehicle isn’t terribly difficult to put together - but it’s important to understand the level of effort that it requires. On average, you should expect to spend about 10-15 hours to complete the car.
In this day and age, we’re used to instantaneous results and items that are ready to function out of the box. At Mechawood (Hint: we are a small company), we simply don’t have the resources to put these kits together ourselves, and in order to make them available to the public we can only sell them in kit form.
Whether this is an excuse to spend time with your kids, grandparents, your best friend, or honing your skills as a craftsman or craftswoman - make some hot tea, pull up a chair, and let’s start work on building a beautiful creation that you and others will treasure for years to come!
The Box.
When you receive your car, you’ll get a box full of pre-cut wooden sheets, a few burlap bags with some goodies in them, and some small envelopes full of other bits and pieces. We’ve consciously designed the kit to have as minimal packaging as possible, and where we need it - we’ve kept it as natural as possible.
